2012 sees the 31st Moray 3 in 1 event and we hope to have another record entry from home and abroad.
In keeping with our aim to provide the best value event in the UK, if not the known world, we are keeping our entry fees at 2011 levels, well below those of commercially organised races.
2011 Report: This was the 30th running of the Moray Marathon 3 in 1 event incorporating the North District Half Marathon Championships.
We had a record entry for the Marathon, a waiting list for the 10K and an almost full half marathon. The weather was kind, if a little warm for some, but almost all went to plan thanks to the many volunteer marshals, water station helpers, administrators, timekeepers & recorders, first-aiders, lead car drivers & navigators, WRVS caterers, baggage handlers, course layers and markers and many more who made it such a great event.
We also thank Marathon founder, Ed McCann for starting the race and helping with the prize giving. Thanks go also to Roddy Burns of Moray Council for presenting prizes.
Finally a big thankyou toThe Macallan for their most generous sponsorship.

History
The first Moray Marathon was held in 1982 and since then it has developed into a 3 in 1 running event incorporating the Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K Road Races through the picturesque landscape of Moray.
All 3 races follow the same clockwise circuit with the Marathon starting in the Cooper Park, Elgin, Half Marathon in the spectacular grounds of Gordonstoun School, Duffus and the 10K in the outskirts of Lossiemouth. The finishing line for each is the Cooper Park, Elgin with the 13th century Elgin Cathedral forming a dramatic backdrop.
Moray contains a great diversity of landscapes which include sandy and rocky shores, rivers, lochs and mountains. Most of these aspects have been incorporated into the Moray Marathons and 10K routes by taking runners on tarred roads, passing through woodlands, coastal areas, towns and villages. The physical nature of these routes with the relatively mild and dry climate of Moray makes them both interesting and enjoyable to all competitors and spectators.

'The Moray Marathon' is a very efficient event, organised entirely by volunteers and not paid staff so we are able to keep our entry fees well below many others without reducing the quality of the experience for runners.
